No 12th exams in Haryana: Cancelled exams after CBSE’s decision

Haryana Board of School Education or (HBSE) or (BSEH) cancelled 12th exams soon after the decision came from CBSE that no offline exams will be conducted keeping the current Covid situation in concern: Education minister Kanwar Pal announced that Haryana Board is going to cancel exams of class 12 board for the year 2021 keeping the current deadly situation of Covid in concern. They took this decision after CBSE announced that there won’t be class 12th exams for year 2021. Decision has been taken in view of Covid and safety of the students.

After CBSE ‘s decision to cancel exams for class 12th, Pal said, “We have also decided to cancel the Class 12 board exams in the state which were to be conducted by the Haryana Board of School Education.” For the evaluation process and result process, he said that state board would make some measures and take the necessary steps and it will share it’s modalities soon. So currently method for evaluation process is not announced but it is said that Haryana Board will announce it soon.

It could be exactly like the method suggested by CBSE or something else, but it is very likely that the state board will follow the guidelines given by CBSE. After the announcement by CBSE, it was noted that it already stated that it would take some proper steps to compile the results in an objective and a time bound manner. It was also stated later that in case if any student want to appear for the examinations, CBSE would organize Board Examinations at a later date when it is conducive to conduct the examinations.

On April 15 earlier, Haryana board gave the decision to cancel board examination for class 10th students. The state however postponed the examination for class 12th students back then as it was inclined to conduct the examination after lockdown and after normalization of the situation. However, later on May 31, the education minister revealed that Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) would follow centre’s direction and guidelines for conducting class 12th exams.

Yesterday CBSE announced that it is going to cancel the exams for class 12th students. Prime Minister Modi taking this decision also gave a statement that “Health and safety of our students is of utmost importance and there would be no compromise on this aspect.” In the high level meeting chaired by him related to this topic, he also said “Students should not be forced to appear for exams in such stressful situation. All stakeholders need to show sensitivity for students,”.

Following his decision Haryana Board also decided to cancel the examination for the year 2021. Earlier the state board exams were scheduled to start in April and continue till mid-May. The exams were however lately postponed and exams for class 10th were cancelled seeing the sudden increase in Covid cases. Also a state wide lockdown was imposed in Haryana on 3 May 2021. But now exams of class 12th are also cancelled. HBSE has said that it will announce more details for evaluation and result soon.
