Environment Day – June 5th

The natural environment or natural world encompasses all living and non-living things occurring naturally. The term environment is most often applied to Earth or some parts of Earth. The environment compasses the interaction of all living species, climate, weather and natural resources. All natural resources are like a gift to us from God. We must not spoil it and learn to use them wisely.

Every year we celebrate this environment day on June 5th and also take certain steps to protect our environment. But think of it, are we daily following the measures to protect the environment? For this we get only two types of answers from people i.e. either ‘yes’ or ‘no’. But majority of the people would answer no. The reason is we don’t have time to protect nature as we running behind technologies now a days . We are destroying our natural environment day by day. Remember as we destroy nature the whole ecosystem will be collapsed and it will be great threat to us. Even if we don’t take steps to protect environment let us at least not destroy nature.

Let us celebrate this environment day by remembering certain things

First thing to keep in mind is to promote afforestation. Remember when we cut down trees we are actually destroying us as trees are the main source of oxygen. They take in carbon dioxide and give out oxygen. They also provide shelter to birds and animals. They provide us rain, stabilize the soil, prevent rapid run-off ran water, prevent desertification, also have a role in climate control and help in the maintenance of biodiversity. They are the ultimate source for life on Earth. If we keep on destroying trees our life on Earth will become a tragedy. So, remember if we cut down a tree have the habit of planting a sapling. “He who plants a tree plants a hope”. So let us promote afforestation and reduce deforestation.

Next thing to keep in mind is water. Water is an inorganic, transparent, tasteless, odorless and a colorless chemical substance which is the main constituent of Earth’s hydrosphere and the fluids of all known living organisms. It is vital for all known forms of life. Water covers 71% of Earth’s surface mostly in seas and oceans. But we are destroying water by leaking all forms of chemical waste into water bodies through industries and factories. Even in water there are living organisms. When chemical waste are dumped in water bodies like lakes, rivers, etc. all these organisms die and float in water. Therefore the water gets spoiled and sometimes we drink that polluted water which leads us to water-borne diseases. So let us understand one thing, when we pollute natural resources we are actually destroying ourselves. Let us keep our water resources clean and neat. Stop the habit of dumping waste in water bodies. All living organisms on Earth need water for their survival, so let us stop polluting water. “Pure water is the world’s first and foremost medicine”. So let us not waste water anymore and try to keep it clean.

The third thing to keep in mind is stop polluting the air and environment around us. Air refers to the Earth’s atmosphere. It is a mixture of gas and tiny dust particles. We need air to breathe in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide. But now a days we pollute the atmosphere around us by releasing toxic chemicals from industries. Remember then we will only breathe that polluted air and will be prone to many diseases. Not only us all living organisms will be affected and many organisms will go extinct. If this stage continues ecosystem gets collapsed and we will be in danger. “Sometimes all we need is a bout of fresh air”. So, we must keep our surrounding neat and clean.

To keep our surrounding clean and to maintain fresh air we need trees. For good growth of trees we need water. So like this everything is inter- linked. We must never disturb this chain by polluting the environment. So let us keep our Earth neat and clean.

Let us celebrate this environment day by giving thanks to the nature and taking steps to protect our environment.
