Farm labourer’s son achieve Isro dream

Somnath Mali keen interest in education, over that struggle of his parents to pay for his education and private tutor eventually lead him to get an offer letter for the position of a senior scientist at the Indian Space Research organisation.

Mali completed his primary education at a local Zilla Parishad school in Solapur till Std X. for Junior College then flow to Pandharpur. There he lived with four boys in one room. Later he came to know about the entrance test for the engineering course. Unfortunately, he had no money for coaching but by the mercy of God Mr Vinayak Paricharak tough him free of cost.

Thereafter mali got into Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute in Mumbai. His parents and elder brother poured their blood, sweat and tears just to pay for mali’s education expenses.
Afterwards, completing Mtech from IIT Delhi. Mali decided to go for the Isro exam but couldn’t clear it in one go. While after appeared for civil services unluckily couldn’t make it. Then he goes the extra mile and appeared for the Isro written exam once again. Fortunately, on June 2, he got to know that he is selected and will be joining Isro’s Thiruvananthapuram centre next month.

Mali further said, “I think every ZP school must have regular career guidance lectures. We need to give rural children some exposure. Education and knowledge of opportunities is the only way to lift villages from poverty.”

His story is a pure illustration of “With hard work and effort, you can achieve anything.”
